Lake El Salto
Lots Of Bass Between 7 and 16 Pounds
Updated Fishing Report
Lake
El Salto near Mazatlan, Mexico is like no other lake we have ever fished.
The odds of catching bass over 10 pounds are incredibly high at El Salto.
The 2002/2003 fishing season (Oct-June) was the best yet. The lake record
is is 18.5 pounds with at least one other bass over 17 pounds and numerous
over 15 lb. It was not uncommon to hook 2 or 3 fish a day in the double
digit range. Our May group this year saw 17 anglers catch 63 largemouth
bass between 7 and 12 pounds. Imagine how many more bass must have been
caught in the 3 to 7 pound range. El Salto can also produce large numbers
of bass, it is not uncommon to catch 40-80 bass per day depending on
fishing conditions and fishing experience. If you are looking for chances
at bass over 10 pounds Lake El Salto is possibly the best lake in the
world and maybe even the best bass lake ever.

This incredible impoundment was formed by damming the Elota river, eighteen
miles long, and 22,000 surface acres full of points, flats and coves.
Salto also contains an abundance of water hyacinth and plenty of flooded
timber. This combination of cover, warm water, and an endless food source,
including talapia, crawdads and shad, will keep El Salto producing big
bass for many years to come.
